Richard "Mac" McLaughlin was born in Fall City Washington on January 14, 1937. He was raised in Washington and Seaside Oregon, and went into the Air Force his senior year of high school. He returned to Seaside to marry Darlene Semmen on February 23rd, 1956. After marrying Darlene, they traveled the world while serving in the Air Force for over 20 years. Their travels took them all over the world including places like Japan and Hawaii. During this time, he and Darlene had two boys and twin girls. Mac enjoyed softball and played all over...

Richard "Mac" McLaughlin was born in Fall City Washington on January 14, 1937. He was raised in Washington and Seaside Oregon, and went into the Air Force his senior year of high school. He returned to Seaside to marry Darlene Semmen on February 23rd, 1956. After marrying Darlene, they traveled the world while serving in the Air Force for over 20 years. Their travels took them all over the world including places like Japan and Hawaii. During this time, he and Darlene had two boys and twin girls. Mac enjoyed softball and played all over the world with the Air Force as a much coveted pitcher.

In 1976, he settled with the family in Tigard Oregon, where he went to work for Diebold, and retired with over 22 years working for the company.

Mac joined the American Legion Post 158 in 1986 and began a long career of volunteer service to the organization. Mac served as Post 158 Commander from 1992 to 1993, 1996-1997, and 2011-2012. Mac served as Department of Oregon Commander from 2003-2004, and served on many National committees. Mac made many friends during his years of volunteering. He also enjoyed fishing and golfing, making many memories on each trip. The family would like to thank the countless friends and family for their support during this time.

Mac passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 31, 2017. He is survived by his brothers, Mike McLaughlin and Jim McLaughlin, son Mike McLaughlin, son Richard McLaughlin, daughter Diane McLaughlin, daughter Linda McLaughlin, grandson's Justin, Avory, Andrew, Sam, granddaughters Megan, Molly and Caitlin, great grandsons Bowen and Ryker and countless other nieces and nephews.

Macs service will be held graveside at Crescent Grove Cemetery 9925 S.W. Greenburg Road at 11am on Saturday, September 9th followed by a celebration of life at the Tigard American Legion Post 158, 8635 S.W. Scoffins Street at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions are made to the American Legion Post 158.
